It should always be remembered that astrology works as an internal stimulus astrological influenced act by eliciting latent tendencies in an individual by resonant response to energies coming from cosmic sources. These internal stimulus's cause an individual consciously or unconsciously to select from the external environment those specific possibilities out of a multitude of possibilities which correspond to his or her inner inclination. Whatever is on the same frequency or wave length resonates together. Individuals attract and are attracted to those people and circumstances which correspond to their internal inclinations as revealed through astrology. Thus destiny is made manifest.
I like to think of Astrology as the original holographic science. When a person is born and takes their first birth they receive the imprint of the hologram that the universe is making in that unique moment in time and space. The holographic imprint taken at birth continues throughout the lifetime and conditions how later cosmic energies are received. When the sun the moon and the planets of the solar system form geometric angels as seen from earth (called aspects in Astrology) to the position the planets held at birth latent or potential tendencies within an individual are stimulated and brought forth resulting in changes in attitude behavior and resonance with possibilities within the environment.
A person is not born when they are born as an accident. The time place and circumstances of birth are chosen by the higher self or soul of the individual to provide the best conditions for correcting mistakes and deficiencies of past lives and providing further growth of new skills through new evolutionary experiences. A new incarnation can take place when the cosmic energy patterns most closely matches or resonates with the individual energy pattern acquired during past evolutionary experience and past lives.
The moment of birth is not the only important moment from the point of view of a persons ongoing spiritual entity. The moment of conception is also important although for obvious reasons more difficult to know. The moment of death also holds great significance for the soul. According to the Alice Bailey teachings a horoscope drawn up for the moment of death will tell a lot about the nature and circumstances of the next incarnation and that very often the sign a person dies under is the sign they are reborn under. According to the teaching of Avitar Satya Sai Baba the predominant thought and feeling at the moment of death greatly conditions a persons after death spiritual experience and conditions the next incarnation. One should strive to keep the attention on God at the moment of death but this is only likely to be achieved if a person practices spiritual discipline during his life. The moment of birth has the greatest practicalsignificance for ordinary daily living while in incarnation, but the moment of conception and of death are highly important in terms of a persons long term spiritual evolution.
The principles outlined here apply also to families, groups businesses organizations countries and humanity as a whole. In a family for instance more often than not a common astrological theme such as emphasis on a particular planet, sign, Element (fire, earth, air or water), quadruplicate (cardinal fixed or mutable) will run through a family showing prominently in the parents children and sometimes grandparents and grandchildren. This is not surprising considering that family members have often been family members in previous lives. Often people will alternate in being each others parents and children.
A common misconception about astrology is that it is necessarily fatalistic This need only be true when people live unconsciously. Man can exercise limited free will conditioned by their past attitudes and actions (consequences of previous use of free will in this or previous lives) present circumstances and most important awareness of current and future choices. Astrology becomes a useful tool in daily living when it is used to expand awareness of choices and their probable outcomes. We can only intelligently exercise free will when we are conscious of what our choices are and what their consequences are likely to be. For this astrology can very useful.
For most people attitudes and actions are dictated by subconscious conditionings and habit patterns for more than we like to admit. Astrology can help greatly in understanding what these subconscious forces are where they come from and how to deal with them. Astrology provides a cosmic X-ray so to speak. When subconscious forces are recognized and understood they can be delt with. When they operate on subconscious automatic levels we are at the mercy of them.
Making astrological predictions for large organizations nations or the world in general is more complex and difficult than predicting for individual people. However, some major trends and times of crisis can be indicated.
In the broad sweep of history we are in the middle of the transition from the Picean age to the Aquarian age. This is a gradual process with considerable overlap of both influences which takes approximately 500 years. This transition period between zodiacal ages is the major astrological reason of the immense chaos confusion suffering and disfunctionality that exists in today's world. Current world civilization (or lack of it) exits in a dysfunctional no mans land largely because the Picean age religious, political and economic institutions which still predominately control the world are disfunctional because they are rooted in the past and are not longer adequate to the needs of the modern world. The Aquarian age institutions of the future are also disfunctional because they are embryonic at best experimental and not yet mature enough to be of real practical help. Institutionalized greed favors a privileges few while impoverishing the vast majority of humanity. This old corrupt system is bound to self disdistruct but not without producing vast chaos and suffering in the process.
Zodiacal ages are caused by a phenomena called the precision of the equinoxes. Procession is caused by the Earth axis of spin having a wobble motion. One wabble cycle takes approximately 26,000 years. This causes the equinox and solstice points which define the tropical Zodian used in western astrology to move backwards against the constellations of stars which define the sidereal zodiac primarily used in eastern astrology. It take approximately 2166 years for the vernal equinox to move backwards through each sign of the sidereal zodiac defining a Zodiacal age.
Around the time of Jesus during the transition from the Arian age to the Picean age the two zodiacs lined up and each sign of the tropical zodiac was perfectly superimposed on the corresponding sign of the sidereal zodiac. Since then the two zodiacs have been separating at the rate of a degree of longitude along the eclipse (the plane in space of the earth's orbit around the sun) every 72 years.
So what is the exact date at which the vernal equinox moves into the last degree of the sidereal Aquarius and officially begins the Aquarian age. That depends on what is used as a reference point for the beginning of the sidereal zodiac.
The sidereal zodiac is made up of actual constellations of stars which are arrange along the path of the ecliptic which is the plane of the earth's orbit around the sun. As seen from earth the sun appears to move along the ecliptic and moves through all twelve signs each year. The celestial equator is the earth equator projected into space as a plane. It is defined mathematically or geometrically as the perpendicular plane to the earth's axis of rotation. As the earth's axis of rotation shifts it orientation in space so does the celestial equator. The spring equinox and the fall equinox are defined by the line in space where the plane of the celestial equator and the plane of the ecliptics intersect each other.
Each year about March 20th the sun as it appears to move along the ecliptic moves from a position south of the celestial equator to a position north of the celetrail equator and is at that instant perfectly aligned with the celestial equator. This occurrence defines the spring or vernal equinox or astronomical beginning of spring. The tropical zodiac begins with the vernal equinox and by definition the vernal equinox position on the ecliptic 15 zero degrees of Aries. It is the processional phenomena which causes the celestial equator to shift its orientation in space causing the equinoxes and solstices to move backwards through the constellations of the sidereal zodiac at the rate of a degree every 72 years or a sign every 2166 years. When the vernal equinox changed signs in the sidereal zodiac a new zodiacal age begins.
